MULTIPLE REMEDIES

03/23/2009: Ted from Bangkok, Thailand replies: "Some people have intolerance of calcium by just 1/4 of a teaspoon one single dose. Some people who take even a small amounts coral calcium it made their conditions worse, although initially it did give them relief.

Apparently too much calcium causes some clumping of blood cells as calcium is one of the minerals, in excess helps the blood clots that may lead to some circulation problems of the heart, especially if the person has weakness. Most heartburn remedies I used tend to avoid this such as 1/2 teaspoon of baking soda plus 1/4 teaspoon of potassium citrate, in 1/2 glass (if a person can't drink too much water) to 1 glass of water. That's taken twice a day. Sometimes a sharp pain can be possible whenever a blood clots and caused heart problems from consuming coral calcium, as in a sharp pains to the left upper arm, which is one sign of heart attack or possibility of a circulatory problems.

A magnesium on occasion also helps. In general, calcium alkalizes the blood, but it's often too slow for many people as calcium carbonate are converted to calcium bicarbonate, too slow and has poor bioavailability. Minerals if that's to be desired in a coral calcium, I believe I can get better minerals source from a dead sea salt, or and sea salt that's unprocessed. A deep sea salt, which has a better mineral comes from sea salt told to fish aquarium are also better as they have clearly labeled minerals in back of their packages. It takes about a week to get the heartburn to be reduced significantly, but I believe it's a fungal like organism and tends to worsen with more calcium. It's possible to actually extract most of the salt from a sea salt by adding some sodium carbonate to the sea salt solution of 20% by adding 1 tablespoon per 500 cc of 20% sea salt solution and precipitates the minerals to the bottom, for example, by waiting for a couple of hours, then decant the liquids, and wash this by not removing the precipitate about 4 times, and then take them directly. A simpler way is one cup of sea salt and added 4 cups of water, then add sodium carbonate until the pH becomes 9 or 10, or until no more additional precipitate forms. What you have here is calcium carbonate and magnesium carbonate, plus a minerals in the precipitate. If a carbonated water or soda water is added after the resultant precipitate that's wash, what you get is calcium bicarbonate and magnesium bicarbonate, plus many minerals also. This is an alternative form of coral calcium without too much calcium as sea salt have a tendency to have more magnesium than a coral calcium. In any event, a magensium chloride or magnesium citrate might be more convenient of sea salt method of extraction is inconvenient. Or I can prepare a water with added sodium thiosulfate to dechlorinate the water, and then add a small pinch of fulvic acid, or in a one liter of water (dechlorinate) i might add 1/8 teaspoon of fulvic acid and then may consume 1/4 or 1/2 glass, one dose to get some minerals also. Certain minerals, as in chromium, vanadium, molybdenum for example is helpful in reducing the blood sugar and generally starve the fungal like organisms that causes heartburn as they are generally resistant to acid, and hence a mineral from sea salt or just sea salt plus some baking soda and potassium and some magnesium is a preferred method of ridding of heartburn. I don't get heartburn since I am practically been alkalizing all my life, most from baking soda, but I have modified the alkalizing remedies of the years.

I therefore have reservations of coral calcium, especially for certain people with other conditions such as lupus, allergy, morgellon's often make the conditions worse with the coral calcium. A sea salt such as 1/4 teaspoon of sea salt dissolved in one liter of drinking water plus baking soda and potassium mentioned, twice a day is a preferred method and it helps to take some magnesium supplements as in 500 mg a day. If weakness is indicated from a heartburn, then a B complex if often taken to restore that. On the otherhand if a sharp pain from the condition then I might take baking soda with aspirin, where baking soda I have added is used to buffer the acidity of the aspirin to prevent blood clotting, but that's only if I have a sharp pain.

Therefore, the use of coral calcium is an individual decision and I can't say what is best but this is simply my experience from their use. I am sure everyone has different experience.

MUSTARD

[YEA]  08/26/2009: Natalie from Mckinleyville, Ca writes: "Mustard Heartburn Remedy

I am 22 years old, and a while back I was experiencing absolutely horrible heartburn which seemed to come out of no where. I would get heartburn after practically everything I ate (whether acidic or not), which became very frustrating. I would finish an entire bottle of acid reducing pills within a little over a month, which I was sure couldn't be that healthy for my body. I went to this website and read about PLAIN YELLOW MUSTARD as a natural heartburn remedy, and decided to give it a try. Every time I was experiencing heartburn (slightly or severely) I would swallow probably a TABLESPOON worth of yellow mustard. I would feel almost instantaneous relief of the discomfort, and the heartburn would go completely away within probably 10-15 minutes. I kept up with this remedy, and am happy to say that I haven't taken a SINGLE acid reducing pill since!

SOME GOOD TIPS:

1) Try not to drink any liquids soon after you swallow the mustard, or you will just wash it all down. If you don't like the taste of mustard, just swish water in your mouth and spit. It should help reduce the taste.

2) GRAB INDIVIDUALLY WRAPPED MUSTARD PACKETS WHENEVER POSSIBLE!! If you are in a restaurant, gas station, grocery store, casino, etc. that has a condiments section somewhere, grab a bunch of mustard packets! You can keep them in a bag in your purse, car, backpack, etc. for when you experience heartburn while on the go! It's self contained, convenient and free! :)"

So many people handle them...they may get dropped on the floor...who knows!!! If you're sucking the mustard straight out of the packets rather than squeezing it out onto a spoon or something...I just shudder to think what you might be ingesting. Ick!"
[YEA]  11/16/2009: Junior from New York, Ny replies: "THIS WORKS!!!!! was suffering with heartburn for a few days, was desperate and looking for a natural remedy.. found this website and used the teaspoon of mustard.. My pain stopped within 5 minutes."
11/20/2011: Charli from Totnes, Devon replies: "Watch out for mustard packets from restaurants etc.. They are usually full of preservatives & sugar & low quality! All things that contribute to acid accumlation (heartburn)"
[YEA]  05/23/2009: Sherry from Uniontown, Pennsylvania writes: "I tried a remedy for heartburn or gerd that I read on another website. Take 1 tsp. of yellow mustard followed by about a half glass of water and to my surprise.......immediate relief. I,ve been doing this for about 3 days now and I haven't had any heartburn. I really get it bad, too. I've gotten heartburn from a glass of water. I've been taking Prevacid for at least 10 years. I had to stop taking it because it interfered with a more important medication that I take. Doctor gave me Zantac instead. It does nothing so I decided to try mustard."

[YEA]  05/22/2009: EldersGrownDown from Melbourne, Vic, Australia writes: "One Tablespoon Mustard, regular, not hot and not watered down version, just regular english or american mustard, have it before bed and don't drink any water. It'll burn a bit for a few seconds after having it. Have another half amount in the morning and you'll probably be cured for life, it's been 4 years for me and I've never had heartburn again. I got this natural remedy from another poster, thank you and I am spreading the news. It worked like a charm."

[YEA]  03/15/2009: Jaynee from Bountiful, Utah USA writes: "I had the MOST horrible heartburn when I woke up this morning, and I had nothing for it. I found this website and the suggestion for mustard and I've got to say, I'm pleasantly surprised. I'd never heard of using mustard before, which is unfortunate as it would have been extrememly helpful during my past two pregnancies! But I used 1/2 tsp as one of the responses suggested and ended up needing to use more about 20 minutes later. So in total used about one and a half teaspoonsful, and at first, going down, it burns like crazy! But it's well worth the extra burn. It works really well at getting rid of heartburn and it's probably the least expensve option you'll find, not to mention if needed in the middle of the night, you don't have to spend 10-20 minutes mixing a concoction of different ingredients. Just a spoonful of mustard does the trick!"

[YEA]  03/04/2009: Pamela from Los Angeles, Ca. USA writes: "Mustard is the best for heartburn. i just had dental surgery and was under alot of medications which i believed were the cause of my heartburn. well i forgot that when i was pregnant it worked, too. just a 1/2 teaspoon always seems to help."

[YEA]  02/19/2009: Meg from Auckland, New Zealand writes: "Aloha, thanks for the great suggestions on here for heartburn. I tried the mustard and it worked really well.

I suspect the reason the mustard, ACV and baking soda are the ones that work well for people is this: When I attended Natural Med.School - we were told that when someone has heartburn it is not because they have too much acid - but not enough. So taking mustard or apple cider vinegar or baking soda (all acidic) for the stomach and calm it down which stops the feeling of acid in the ribs and up. Thanks."

02/09/2009: Danielle from Huber Heights, OH writes: "I've been suffering with horrible heartburn and was browsing this website for some cures. I have an OTC heartburn medicine that I'm allowed to take but it hasn't helped this morning. The burning is killing me so I just tried the mustard cure. I took one teaspoon, and could barely stomach swallowing it even though I like mustard. After five minutes the pain has subsided some and I'm hoping within the next ten it'll be all gone. But even the little bit of help is better than nothing!"

[YEA]  11/13/2008: Corina from Victoria, Newfoundland writes: "I have been having heartburn daily for the past 2 years ..almost everything i eat ...and i thought i would try the net for a cure ? and here you are !! about half hour ago i took a spoonfull of mustard and i could not believe it less then 5 mins and my heartburn is gone !!! i just want to say thank you for having this site and for helping me with this heartburn !!!"

[YEA]  09/26/2008: ROBERT HENRY from TEN MILE , TN writes: "Last night, I awoke with severe heart burn or indigestion. I headed for the Tums when I remembered that someone on Earth Clinic said a teaspoon of simple mustard would work immediately. Hey,,,, it did.

I'm working on my acne roseaca using your site's recommendations. These demodex mites are hell to get rid of. I refuse to treat them with antibiotics as I have for many years. My nose is not pretty, but my good bowel bacteria is alive and well.

Hurrah for our side."

I was at my brothers earlier this evening, and I asked him if he had any tums, and he said no, but try a half teaspoon of mustard. I did and within ten minutes, my heartburn was gone. I cant beleive it. Been having a lot of heartburn lately, no more tums. im sticking with the mustard."
01/22/2011: Lemarque from Melbourne, Victoria, Australia replies: "Hi Chris, you may like to try slippery elm bark to treat your heartburn. The mustard is effective, however it is only for symptomatic relief. Slippery Elm Bark is well-recognised as an effective treatment for simple reflux (Heartburn). You can continue to use the mustard for symtomatic relief as required but I think you will find that you need it less and less. Good Luck"
[YEA]  05/06/2008: Roderick Robinson from New Orleans, Louisiana writes: "mustard, one tablespoon of, can relieve from heartburn instantly AND acid reflux. i had a real bad case of heartburn one day so that i was holding my chest and a elderly woman ask whats wrong and i told her i had heart burn and she told about this remedy and it works for me. one tablespoon."

[YEA]  09/16/2007: V. Gillespie from Saint Louis, USA writes: "Mustard, regular prepared mustard that goes on a hotdog or sandwich quickly and completely cured intolerable acid reflux and heartburn. My husband told me to try it, so I swallowed a good tablespoon each time the reflux and heartburn came for a few days. It has been well over 6 years since and' I have never had acid reflux or hearburn again. Mustard works amazingly."

[YEA]  12/29/2006: Matt from Dothan, AL writes: "A teaspoon or two, or packet of mustard cures Heartburn. Burns like hell for a minute, but works wonders. Do not drink or eat anything for about 10 minutes or so. Zantac costs too much, chewable antacids give me a dry mouth, so I was turned on to trying mustard by a friend of mine. I don't know how it works, but it does."

MUSTARD, PICKLE JUICE

[YEA]  01/31/2010: Jl from Atlanta, Georgia writes: "I almost never have heartburn but had a terrible episode last night. Decided to check Earth Clinic for ideas and the mustard seemed like something I could keep down. The heartburn was so bad I thought I was going to start throwing up, so had to be careful what I ingested. Didn't think I could handle undiluted ACV, as many people apparently have used with success. I used about a teaspoon of mustard. No problem getting it down. As I was putting the mustard away I saw the pickle jar so thought I try that, too. I downed about a shot glass full of pickle juice. I guess the pickle juice and mustard work because they're made with vinegar, but far tastier than straight ACV. By the time I walked to my bedroom to go to sleep the heartburn was gone!"

PAPAYA ENZYMES

[YEA]  08/06/2007: Trav from Rice Lake, WI writes: "I tried papaya enzyme for heartburn and it works. I wouldn't make a habit of eating it all the time though. Maybe you can take a different heartburn remedy at a time."

PICKLE JUICE

[YEA]  02/08/2010: Mimi from Louisburg, Ks writes: "Thank you so much. I very rarely get heartburn but when I do it hurts so bad I could cry. I found your site and tried the teaspoon of mustard which subsided the pain for a few minutes. I then read about the pickle juice and the crackers. I tried them both and my heartburn is almost gone. Thank you so much. I had already taken a generic antacid tablet and 4 antacids to no avail. I will now first go to the pickle juice and crackers to help my heartburn. I am going to bed now without pain. Night Night."

[YEA]  02/28/2009: Alan from Orem, UT writes: "So, every once in a while, I get some bad heartburn. My diet was horrible, Wendies and McDonalds because its cheap. I have since started eating better and cut back on the caffeine and that has been what has cured the heartburn. I even eat spicy foods with no problem. Before, though, when I did get the heartburn so badly that I couldn't sleep, I told my dad about it and he suggested pickle juice. My friends scoff, but it really does the trick. We always have pickles in the fridge so I tried it. Never fails. Everytime I get heartburn, I use it and it works everytime. Milk doesn't work or water. sometimes bread does the trick but fills you up and then its back with in an hour or so. Just a couple of swallows of pickle juice and its gone. I promise."

PINE NEEDLES

Acid Reflux - What it is and How to Deal With It

If you are over the age of 20 or so, chances are that you have experienced the effects of acid reflux, at least at one time in your life. Commonly known as heart burn or acid indigestion, it affects 35 - 45% of the population. There are a few exceptions. So if you are wondering if you have ever experienced acid reflux, or if you will know the symptoms, trust me, you will know.

The symptoms of heart burn are exactly what it sounds like. Except, it isn't really your heart that is burning. But it definitely feels like it is. The best way to describe the symptoms is a burning in the middle of the chest. It can be anywhere between the top of the stomach and the back of your throat. So, basically just above your solar plexus.

The pain may be in one spot, or it can be this entire area. And it can feel like a burning or pressure sensation. Keep in mind, that either of these feelings can also indicate a heart attack, so if you aren't 100% sure it is indigestion, get to a hospital right away. Better safe than sorry.

Acid reflux is caused when acid from the stomach moves up and enters the esophagus. The esophagus is the long tube that transports food from your mouth to your stomach. At the bottom, there are rings which open and close. They open to allow food into the stomach, and later, they open to allow gasses to release.

The problems of heart burn happen when the rings open to allow the gas to escape, but acid escapes as well.

Once it gets into the "tube" it begins to burn. The amount of burn can vary from mild discomfort, to extreme pain. Ask anyone who has experience extreme heartburn, and they will describe pain on par with anything else they have ever felt.

But, in addition to the pain, heart burn also causes damage. And, this damage can turn into cancer in severe cases.

For that reason, it is important to determine the cause of ongoing heart burn and indigestion. There are a number of possible reasons, and once you have determined your particular issue, it can be dealt with.

For some people, acid reflux is triggered by food. Spicy or greasy foods are the most common culprits. For food related problems, depending on the severity, antacids can help. If the problem isn't too bad. But it's best not to rely on these for too long.

Another option of course is to avoid the food, which is not always that easy.

Lifestyle can also contribute to chronic acid reflux. Stress, over exertion and even the time of day you eat can all have and effect.

But, there are many cases where heart burn is caused by a medical condition. And in these cases, medical intervention will be necessary.

There are prescription drugs, which you take on a daily basis. Or, in extreme cases, surgery may be necessary.

The important thing to remember is you need to get to the root of the problem. It needs to be determined if the cause of your acid reflux is external like food or lifestyle. Or, if it is internal like gastric reflux disease or other problems.

Once you know the cause, you can begin to reduce and eliminate your symptoms. If you have heart burn that is severe, or on going, you need to see your doctor. They can prescribe over the counter or prescription medication to take care of the problems.

Chronic Acid reflux is more than just extremely painful. It can cause damage which can not be repaired. Or even cancer.

Fortunately, you don't have to live with the problems of persistent acid reflux. With changes in lifestyle and / or medications, they can be corrected.

APPLE CIDER VINEGAR

Updated: 11/20/2011

"Heartburn or pyrosis is a painful or burning sensation in the esophagus, just below the breastbone caused by regurgitation of gastric acid. The pain often rises in the chest and may radiate to the neck, throat, or angle of the jaw. Heartburn is also identified as one of the causes of chronic cough, and may even mimic asthma. Despite its name, heartburn actually has nothing to do with the heart. It is so called because of a burning sensation of the breastbone where the heart is located although some heart problems do have a similar sensation to heartburn. Compounding the confusion is the fact that hydrochloric acid from the stomach comes back up the esophagus because of a problem with the cardiac sphincter, a valve which misleadingly contains the word cardiac (an adjective referring to the heart) in its name." ACV AND BAKING SODA

[YEA]  01/01/2007: Conni from Bainbridge, OH writes: "I remember my Grandmother (she's now 94)telling me about ACV tea with honey years ago, but I didn't take heed to her good teaching. In fact she had the book by Jarvis - 'Folk Healing' and has since given it to me. Anyway, in his book, Jarvis talks about preparing babies' formula (for those who can't nurse) with cows milk and using honey to sweeten it. It is my understanding that infants under a yr old cannot tolerate honey, as there is something in it that is toxic to them. Now, here's the weird thing.....my daughter is 32 and when she was an infant I would often dip her pacifier in honey. She loved it and it never, ever made her sick. Of course, I had no idea at the time that honey is supposed to be toxic to little ones. Did she have a tolerance to honey and were we just really lucky it didn't make her sick? Could somebody share any experiences with this? I'm beginning to think the formula companies don't want young mothers to know there is an alternative to their expensive products and are using scare tactics to prevent a less pricey, and perhaps, more nutritious 'formula' from being used. As for the ACV....I plan on using it for more than just heartburn. I've had it for years off and on. I'd be prescribed meds and I'd take 'em, but the heartburn always came back. Recently it has been a constant companion for 3 weeks solid. I stumbled upon your website and feel like I've died and gone to heaven. It's wonderful. Thank you so much."

06/22/2009: Emily from Biddeford, Maine replies: "For the person wondering if we're being duped by formula companies, this is from the Weston A. Price Foundation's webite:

"A mere fifty years ago, part of the preparation for women during pregnancy, aside from a diet enriched by special animal foods, was the scouting out of a cow that would be given the best of pasture and whose milk would be available to the infant throughout its infancy. Today we know that we should dilute the milk and add other whole foods, but even before we knew these things, thousands of babies thrived on rich whole milk from a variety of animals. Yet some of the strongest words in the medical literature today are aimed at commercial formula's only competition-homemade formula based on cow or goat milk.

Today the new mother who finds herself struggling with nursing, and frantic at the frequent cries of her baby, is first told that she should have more confidence. When she gives in to the inevitable and switches to bottle feeding, she is told that formula made in factories is better than milk produced by living animals. Another formula customer is born."

01/31/2010: Jl from Atlanta, Georgia replies: "Honey can be FATAL for infants! Botulism spores can survive in honey's anaerobic environment, but are not concentrated enough to harm older children and adults. Infants however could die from the small amount of spores in honey. So, DON'T GIVE HONEY TO INFANTS! Of course you didn't know and I'm glad your daughter's okay. A lot of people don't know honey is dangerous for infants."
03/29/2011: Henri from Abbotsford, British Columbia, Canada replies: "I read a book: The Cure For All Diseases by Hulda Regehr Clark, Ph. D. , N. D. I am not sure if it was GERD that I had but the chest pain has gone away. As a bonus I have been shedding pounds like never before. However I do think that the weight loss is mostly water due to the fact that ACV acts as a mild diuretic. Interestingly enought unlike other natural diuretics ACV doesnt affect your salts/electrolytes because it contains potassium. Really happy to have found this website!"

I used to suffer from heartburn after every meal. Even after breakfast! After stumbling on ACV, I have not suffered from heartburn ever since. It has cured my sinus headaches and also a wart that I had on my finger for 5 years! ACV is better than the doctor. I don't drink ACV but rather eat about 5 tbls. of it on a cabbage salad recipe. I eat it every day."

APPLE CIDER VINEGAR AND BAKING SODA

[YEA]  02/01/2010: Mich from Reno, Nv Usa writes: "I started having this burning sensation in my chest after eating, right above my diaphragm. It was obvious to me that it was at the end of my esophagus. I also noticed that food tended to get lodged there easily & I had to drink something to force it down into my stomach. This had been going on for about two weeks--I never had it before, so I knew something was wrong. I just assumed I had heartburn, so when I looked it up in a medical book, I found out there is no cure, but only treatments. I do not like to take medications of any kind. One evening I was so uncomfortable with this heartburn, that I decided to G----le "heartburn" (becoming desperate for relief at that point) & came across this site immediately (thank goodness!). The moment I started reading about using ACV, it got my attention but I had my doubts. So many people were saying it helped, so I put down the computer & immediately got the ACV (I use for salad dressing) from my cupboard & mixed 2 Tablespoons in about 10 oz of warm water. I immediately drank it slowly & within minutes I seemed to get some relief. The next day I did it again but added 1/4 teaspoon of Baking Soda (that I just bought to deodorize my refrigerator) and although I didn't like the taste of it, I still drank it. I'm on my 3rd day now & I really do feel better--no heartburn today. I will alternate adding baking soda to my water every other time I do it. I'm concerned about the enamel on my teeth, so I rinse my mouth immediately &/or brush my teeth right after I drink this concoction. I also feel less bloated, so I think this drink helps relieve the inflammation in my intestines as well as the end of my esophagus because I'm not getting that food lodging there as I used to. I am so glad I found this site and this remedy (because I would not have wanted to waste my time going to a doctor just to have them put me on medications that probably won't work.) I also do not like to have medications in my body. I only take vitamins & an occasional aspirin for headaches. So far, I would say this (Ted's) recipe (ACV Baking Soda Water) works, or at least gives me tremendous relief. I simply use the regular brand (H---z) used for Salad Dressing, but I think I will go to T----r J--s & get the B----s, just to see if it is any better. For now, I am happy to use what I already have in my cupboards. This works for me. I hope this helps anyone that maybe has a mild case of heartburn. By the way, I am a 55 yr-old female. "

EC: Ha ha! Thanks for the self-editing! Trader Joe's does not sell B----gs (at least not at ours), just their own brand of organic acv.

I tried PPI's (some relief), Gaviscon (only temp relief). After alot of research, I came by an article that mentioned that GERD is often a symptom of an underlying condition, often Candida. I asked my doctor about this, he told me that natural path practioners often refer to Candida, but that there really is not much proof available about the condition. Not discouraged, I decided to try the strictest Anti-Candida diet (it is an 8 week diet).

To my surprise, the GERD totally disappeared after the first week of the diet. I could eat as much as I want, as long as it is the specified foods in the diet. After 4 weeks on the diet, I lost 20 lbs and am feeling great. I decided not to go more than 4 weeks on the diet as I would lose too much wieght.

I will now try some Anti-Candida supplements, apparently candida is an overgrowth of yeast in the body, caused by over consumption of sugar or stress."

Compounding the confusion is the fact that hydrochloric acid from the stomach comes back up the esophagus because of a problem with the cardiac sphincter, a valve which misleadingly contains the word cardiac (an adjective referring to the heart) in its name." I'm being careful in my diet and will stick with the ACV.So if you are just starting on the regimen, do give it a chance and expect a few bad days as you adjust. Good luck everyone!"

[NAY]  08/14/2007: Jennifer from Windsor, California writes: "Hi Karen, My mother occasionally experiences the same heartburn discomfort after taking ACV. She can't take it on an empty stomach and has to sip it slowly. She does take it every morning after breakfast diluted in 16 oz of filtered water. In regards to lowering blood pressure, she's had wonderful success with cayenne pepper. Do a search on Dr. Richard Schultz for lots more info. My Mom's doctor reduced her blood pressure med in half several months ago and my Mom hopes to be able to stop completely when she goes back in for her checkup in a couple of months. Besides eating well and taking the ACV and cayenne, she walks several miles 3 - 4 times a week."

D. , N. D. [YEA]  12/03/2006: Ryan from Ottawa, Ontario writes: "I have been experiencing recurrent chest pain for almost the last year, all tests (ECG's, Halter Monitor and lots of blood work) indicated that there was nothing wrong with my heart so the doctors put me on one of those fancy (and expensive) proton pump inhibitors as they assumed everything was related to GERD (acid reflux).

Acid Reflux and Burning - Its Causes and Treatments

Acid reflux and burning happens when the stomach finds difficulty in digesting the food. Once this occurs, the digestion process stops and the stomach will let the remaining food stay undigested. However, the stomach now tries to bring the undigested food substance back up, but it remains stuck in the esophagus with all the acid.

This occurrence will now result to acid reflux and burning. The burning feeling will spread throughout the person's chest fast becoming what we know as heartburn. If this constantly happens to you, set an appointment with your doctor. This might be the beginning of a serious condition or can probably be a "wake-up" call for you to change your lifestyle.

Causes of Acid Reflux and Burning

Acid reflux and burning stems from a lot of causes attributable to the food that you eat and to your lifestyle. Some people may be overweight or over-indulge in food. Hence, take note of the following food and try to avoid them since they often lead to acid reflux and burning.

1. Dairy and fatty foods or those high in fat contents like sour cream, milk shake, salad oils and dressing, and deep fried foods.

2. Foods that contain high amount of acids like orange, lemon, grapefruit, cranberry, tomato and their juices.

3. Beverages which includes liquor, wine, coffee and even tea.

4. Meat particularly ground beef, breaded meats and highly spiced dishes like Buffalo wings.

5. Large and sumptuous meals that are a combination of all the above

Other contributing factors may be your lifestyle or habits which may include the following:

1. Habitually eating large meals which tend to overwork your digestive system. This habit tends to expand your stomach and causes an upward pressure to you esophageal sphincter. The latter refers to that band of muscle in the opening of your esophagus.

2. Lying down immediately after every meal; in which case no gravity force will pull down the food in your stomach while being processed. A supine position will only push it upwards back to your esophagus.

3. Lying flat on your back as this will cause the stomach acids to surge back up. Ideally, elevating your head using a wedged pillow while lying down will help in the proper digestion processes.

4. Being overweight or obese. Too much weight causes abdominal pressure. Statistics show that almost 35% of obese persons suffer acid reflux and burning.

Treatment of Acid Reflux Burning

As a first aid treatment, over-the-counter antacids can neutralize the acidity in the stomach. However, if the burning sensation is still present after 10 to 15 minutes, it is best to immediately visit your doctor or go to the nearest hospital for proper medical evaluation and treatment.

Your doctor is the proper authority in assessing the treatment of acid reflux burning or heartburn. There are instances when heartburns are dismissed as mere acid reflux, which could be very dangerous. This is without considering the possibility of heart attacks.

If you or other members of your family will experience any chest pains in the future, it is best to visit your doctor or the nearest hospital for proper medical treatment. Who knows, the burning sensation may not be acid reflux burning at all but already a heart attack.

Thanks."

I promise."
